Malin Royal

Traits: Disciplined, Dramatic, Light Sleeper, Neat, Socially Awkward

I envision Malin as that chick that if you breathe on her the wrong way, she’ll roundhouse kick your ass half across Sunset Valley.  I used a bit more CC on her than I did on my last one.  I think I tracked them all down barring the piercing.  I have no idea where that came from, I’m sorry D:

I use a lot of sliders.  While Malin isn’t SUPER slider heavy, she might be messed up if you don’t have the sliders I use.  To save you the insanity of finding them, here is my sliders folder.

TOU (aka boring stuff):  Please do not use her as a base. Please do not claim her as your own.  Please don’t change her genetics.  Everything else is free reign—you can change her clothes, her hair style, etc.  Also, I like to see where my ladies (and gentlemen when I make them) go and how they live and all that.  If you use her in your game, tag “misssimgoddess”.

I changed default eyes.  I loved the ones I had before, but they didn’t look nicely with brighter eye colors (bright green didn’t work well for some reason) and darker eye colors looked almost black (for example, Liz Tarry’s purple eyes).

But now that I look at it side by side, the only difference is the eye whites as far as I can see.  I dunno.  I do have pretty old eyes.

Loving the new loading screen.

I should clarify, this loading screen is not from the new patch. It’s a modded loading screen found here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=518770

After watching the loading screen of ITF, which is…well…boring as hell for a while, to see this on my dashboard was a breath of fresh air.

And dare I say that I love the “sims logic” things as the game loads.

Something happened.

The Tickians’ save somehow got FUBAR’D.

I didn’t lose them forever luckily, but I had to move them into a fresh lot in a fresh town in hopes that whatever corruption was in that save is gone.  So…I’ve been building the family home all day since there was no house big enough for all of them.  2 will be gone once they’re young adults though.

What this means though is that I’m gonna have to play Lombardo through college AGAIN.  For one reason, and only one reason—that purple-haired chick.  Here’s hoping that all is good this time around.  Or I’ll be really pissed. It’s bad enough that I’m gonna have to scrap everything I did already.

The Neverending Loop is Over!

I would like to thank a couple of the folks over at nraas’ wiki for helping me figure out Lombardo’s University term of doom.  

So what happened, you ask?

Apparently, my game borked somewhere (hell if I know where) and my homeworld got switched from Moonlight Falls to Sims University.  As I sent Lombardo to university right as I got the expansion, it’s very possible that this was one of them glitches that was in game in its early days and I didn’t know about it because shortly after I had to pack up the Simming computer when I moved (and then losing the computer indefinitely when my daughter knocked it over).

So before I went insane and completely dropped TCC, I asked for help.  We tried numerous things, and what finally worked was this:

-Dropping out.  I didn’t want to do this, but since I made zero progress in my grades, I had nothing to lose there.

-Travel to homeworld using Real Estate & Travel Services > Travel.  For some ungodly reason, Moonlight Falls was now a vacation spot.  So I picked it.

-Picked an empty lot (since I was just gonna enroll in uni again anyways)

-Click on City Hall > Nraas > Traveler > Change Homeworld.

Something else I noticed while doing this is that there was a new (since last update of Traveler) option to set how long you want your Sims to be in Uni for.  I set it for 14 days, or 2 terms.  This was something that was NOT in the Traveler I had before getting the computer back, or at least I don’t think so.  

But I was able to play through till 1 day before finals before getting das boot from the fiance from the Simming computer.  The next thing to find out is if I can go back to Moonlight Falls without any issues.

But yay the loop is gone!

Note: If you are having this issue as well, there’s one thing you should know.  In the unlikely event that you get a newly made homeworld instead of the one you came from, this fix is completely null, and you’ll have to revert back to an old save.  And I wish you luck, because I gained so much stuff that going back to an old save would’ve made me cry.

My black haired Sim and blonde haired Sim had a brown haired child and I’m confused and alarmed.

Same but I’m not at all alarmed. I have the Consort Hair Mod.

That mod is the BEST DAMN THING EVER.  Had to install it myself when I ended up with 7 kids and all but 2 were blonde.  Varietyyyyy!

More lighting mod previews.  I love how there’s a rainbow right after it rains.  Obviously that’s not part of it (I don’t think), lol.

Update to the neverending term fiasco

So disabling seasons did not work.

So I looked on the nraas discussion site since most of the mods I use are from him, and if there was an issue caused by one of his mods someone would at least point me to the right direction.  

This is the thread in case anyone would like to try and help me.

The next step (last resort before reverting to the last save before I sent Lombardo to university) is to see if I can travel back to his homeworld then set Moonlight Falls as my homeworld since the game apparently seemed to have set the Uni world as my homeworld.  

To say that I’m completely demoralized is an understatement.  A HUGE one.  I’m just trying to get through my damn legacy story, but the game has thrown me into a loop (literally).  So here’s hoping this last thing works so I can actually fricken graduate!

So a small update to this post:

It’s a pretty common glitch apparently, and it only seemed to affect 2-term university games.  But after snooping around the official Sims 3 forums, I found something that could be an odd (but possible) culprit.

I didn’t think anything of it until someone in that link mentioned it, but it’s VERY possible that the season changes may have something to do with it.  I have my seasons set for 7 days, so it actually changes every Sunday.  If this is the case, I’m gonna have to maybe disable seasons in the uni world, or use a mod (I think it was Tempest that deals with uni world/WA world weather) to fix it.  I don’t get the Sims 3 comp back from my fiance till tomorrow morning, so I will have to check it out tomorrow.  I’m also looking at other possibilities, but this one just seems so out there to the point where you can rule it out immediately without thinking about it.

With that said, going to revamp more houses in Sims 2.

University crisis

I’m having a crisis.

See, I have played through Lombardo’s first semesters at least 5 times now.  It keeps resetting and instead of it saying “5 days until finals” it goes back to “11 days until finals”.  It’s like that movie Groundhog Day, except it’s a week long and it’s kinda draining me since I kinda want to hurry up and finish that part of the legacy story.  And can’t because well…yeah.  He has passed his exams with flying colors each time (yay genius sims, lol).

Has anyone ever experienced the “neverending term?” There have been people who said that dropping out and enrolling again fixed it, but really don’t want to have to go through all that again.  I’ve done it for 5 sim weeks already.

I don’t have SP on in uni (I accidentally turned it on, but once I noticed I turned it off).  I have mostly Twillan’s mods and awesomemod, but not sure if any of those would be the culprit (and awesomemod is not the easiest thing to get rid of without screwing anything up).

So…help?

Did I mention that I installed a lighting mod? I had to.

(it also turned out that it remedied that full moon glow issue that I had without installing that additional mod.  So that’s a plus.)

I haven’t really talked about the dormies that Lombardo was set up with but this is Liz Tarry and apparently dormies can become a random occult if you have the Supernatural EP.  There’s her, a (day-loving) vampire in my game, and there’s Derek Khan, who is a fairy in my game (he’s the guy who passed out in the puddle of pee and danced with a bowl).

Liz has a certain charm about her, and she gets brownie points for having purple hair.  So I gave her new hair that better suits her (her round face makes it kinda hard to give her any hairstyle that isn’t short).  But yeah.
