I really wish that in TS4 teens have the option to at least “woohoo”. I find it stupid that they think it’s “taboo” when it’s happening more often then we’d like to admit.

I agree with this, but it won’t happen for a few reasons.

-They have to consider their younger players. The game is already rated teen, but how many who play are under 13? I have a cousin who introduced me to TS2 when she was barely 10.  They teach sex ed in school that early, but it’s still a tad…I guess you can say awkward when the option pops up.

-It actually is “taboo” in some cultures.  This game is a worldwide sensation.  Imagine if they include woohoo for teens and someone in these cultures buy it unknowingly.  Imagine how many complaints EA would get (on top of the other complaints they will get because of bugs).

-Prudes would hate it.  ”OMG TEENS HAVING SEX!” It’s sad that it’s happening, but it has been happening for so many donkey years.  Some choose to accept it, some done, but either way, it can’t be stopped unless you duct tape your kid to her bed until she’s 21.

-Twallan may not be producing mods for TS4, but someone will eventually and that option will be there if you want a more “politically correct” game.  

It would make the game more true to life, but it’s not needed, nor would it be implemented.

"Umm…" Cleo began.  "Who are you?"

The strange man looked up and down at her.  ”I am a person from the future.  This thing here is a time machine.”

Her eyes widened.  ”Wait, you come from the future?  What? How?”

"Don’t worry about it, it’ll all be clear soon enough." The man takes out a handheld machine type thing.

"Take this.  Use it."

Cleo looks at him, confused.

"It’s an almanac.  You can use it to travel anywhere you want in the future.  If you ask me, it’s pretty nifty."

"Umm…thanks."

I looked down at them and facepalmed.  She does whatever she wants.  Oh well.

So I'm thinking...

I’m gonna play through the Tickians today and maybe share one of the boys as a “just because” gift.  We’ll see.

Weird things have been happening in Isla for a while now.  Before I came here, there was an influx of supernaturals.  Vampires, fairies, witches…they all just seemed to flock here.  Probably to get away from the humdrum.  Cleo moved here a few years ago from Moonlight Falls.  There was no reason, she said.  Just a new lease on life and just wanted to move somewhere warmer.  

Cleo didn’t tell me until a year into our relationship that she was a witch.  She was scared that I would hate her forever.  But once she told me, it explained everything.  We always had apples, and sometimes she’ll tell me not to eat the purple ones.  I never knew why, but I just listened and didn’t eat the purple apples.  The red ones were good enough for me.

When we got our new place, all was normal.  The house was beautiful.  Then something strange happened.

"What the hell is that?" Cleo looked right at the strange thing suddenly in our yard.

"No idea, but I suggest leaving it be.  It doesn’t look like it is harmful, but can’t trust anything."

So we did.  Then we went up to our bedroom to admire it…

After living in Sunset Valley for so long, Isla Paradiso just seemed like a nice place to settle down after I got my parents’ inheritance.  It was quiet, in comparison to the bustle of a huge town.  It was destined to be my place where I lived and died with very little interaction with the outside world.

That is, until I met Cleo.  She was loud; the life of the party so  to speak.  Where I would shy away she would step in.  She was the only one who was able to keep me within arm’s reach.  I just couldn’t pull away from her.

She bewitched me.

Everything was a blur.  Before I knew it, she proposed to me.  Then she picked out her wedding dress.  Then she picked out the venue…come to think of it, she did all of it.  She knew how to use her words to keep me hanging on.  I wasn’t sure about it at the time, but the more I stayed with Cleo, the more she grew on me.  The more I fell in love with her.  And this is where we are today.

This is a house that I built for my latest Sim project, The Bards’ Wanderlust.  The house has 3 floors—master bedroom is actually the entire third floor, two other bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, a small study area, lots of deck space (because it is a beach house after all!) and a combo living room/kitchen area.  The shape is something interesting for me.  It was a test of endurance, I’ll tell you that.  After doing the interior (and the deck area), I was gonna put some pretty flowers on the outside, but yeah that’s the bane of my existence.  

Anyways, this is what I was working on instead of actually playing.

I wish EA would include same-sex and more racially/ethnically mixed couples and families. The world is becoming more diverse, and it would be nice if the game could actually reflect that fact.

While I do agree with this statement, I would like to point out that the good thing about this game is that you can make your Sims whatever you want.

In my Tickian legacy game on Sims 3, Mom and Dad are a mixed couple, and there are 7 children, including Lombardo, in what will be the first gen.  So far, as the others are too young to determine, there are two children exclusively attracted to the same sex.  

In Life as a (La)Rose, Rinoa LaRose is a lesbian.  Her parents are an interracial couple as well.

I tend to make my families interracial, or put them in interracial relationships because I, too, am in one outside the Sims world.  Like Rinoa and Lombardo, my daughter is biracial.  If EA won’t add a little diversity, which is very likely that they won’t, the best thing about it is that WE CAN.  And we can even share this with the simblr community.  

So I’m not gonna lie, I’m not in the festive mood at all.  But for those who celebrate, Merry Christmas, and for all, have a happy and safe New Year.  If you plan on getting shitfaced next Tuesday, keep in mind that this can happen to you.  You can pass out in your own piss.  Do you want that? No? Okay then.  

I’m not going to say to not drink, because I may have a drink myself, but do it responsibly.  

By the way, this dormie of my anti-legacy founder actually passed out in someone else’s pee!  That was the funniest thing ever.

I have taking a liking for the clumsy trait mostly because I get amused when my sims trip all the time.

I love the clumsy trait because it adds some sort of charm.  It could just be me, but yeah.

My face when my fiance finally got his computer working...

So remember a long time ago about the Monster fiasco?

Well, a really generous friend of my fiance’s funded him a motherboard this week as an early X-Mas/B-day present.  We weren’t expecting to get it fixed for another few weeks since our fixer guy (aka his brother) is unavailable.  He looked up some stuff on how to install a motherboard and decided to delve into fixing it himself.  

After trial and error, he did it.  

What does this mean? Well, it means Monster is back from the dead, and it also means that I can FINALLY PLAY SIMS 3 AGAIN! Since it has been nearly a year since I have been able to do anything, I’m gonna have to go through my downloads and even go into the game and hope that the Tickians’ save is still there.  

I am over the moon right now.  As small as this is (and it wasn’t even directly for me), this is our Christmas miracle.  This year has been a trying one for us all computer issues aside.  If it wasn’t considered cheating, I’d give this friend of his a wet kiss.  LOL.  Now what we need is a bag of money to drop on our heads and all will be well.  Sorta.

I get really mad when adults with wives/husbands and kids spend thier time playing sims. Like shouldnt you be somewhere being a parent or spouse?

Okay, as a gamer mom and future wife, this kind of infuriates me.

I understand that there are stories of people playing games and neglecting everything else.  Gaming addictions are real.  But not all parents/spouses who play games are like this.  I have a 2-year-old.  Sometimes she’ll watch me play games, and there have been times where she has played with me.  She’s fed and clothed and taken care of very well.  My fiance, who is also a gamer, gets laid pretty damn often.  He’s responsible for the cooking most the time so that his daughter can eat.  

The thing is, if we just gave up everything that we did before having kids, we’d live pretty boring lives.  Kids gotta go to sleep/go to school/etc.  And as for jobs, working burns adults out quickly.  I’m going to assume that this person who did this confession is someone who is childless and single.  Because if they were anything else, they’d know that gaming, whether through Sims or otherwise, is a way to wind down and keep our fucking asses sane.  

As long as it’s done in moderation and nothing is being neglected, then why not?

Ugh.

Going through horrible Sims 3 withdrawals.  I actually had a dream about it running like a charm on my laptop.  If only!

One of the things I’ve always wondered was out of 6 kids, which ones look like their parents? I couldn’t pinpoint it for a while.  But now I may have (albeit by accident).  I was looking for a hair for Aerith (I eventually went for a short ‘do for her) and I accidentally clicked on the dreads.  The same ones that Desti wears.  For good measure, I put a pair of glasses on her.  

I’d say that Aerith is a young Desti.  I’m tempted to try this with Yuna (since Yuna and Aerith are the most identical multiples I’ve had in ANY game).

So speeding things along, since Rinoa is almost out of college and the twins are halfway through.  The last of the first gen LaRoses, the triplets, are now teens!

Yuna is a Pleasure/Fortune Sim, Prishe is a Family/Knowedge Sim and Aerith is a Knowledge/Pleasure Sim.  Weird as hell aspirations, but you have random.org  to blame for that.  Time to get these girls college ready!

Sims 2: Compressing your files

One of my rituals after downloading new CC for my game is compressing the files. Now sometimes, it’s done for me and that’s good. But many CC makers don’t, and it leaves the users, like you and me, to compress these files. It’s tedious, especially if you have LARGE download folders.

My downloads folder is pretty big. It could be a lot bigger if I allowed
it, but I’m using a laptop that is limited on disk space. Since I play
other games and do other stuff on this laptop, space is important, and I can
use all the space I can get. I do have an external hard drive, sure, but
unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to direct all my downloads to go into
it instead of into my C drive. Pretty sure it’s not possible.

Anyways, The Compressorizer can make these uncompressed big old files into smaller files. Not sure how it works exactly, but at times, these files can be 50, 60, even 75% smaller than its original. That’s fucking sexy. Let’s give a small example.

My recent compress was of 4 folders—mods, hair (which is a 1,456-file
monster in and of itself), clothing, and furniture. Over 500 MB’s of space
taken from these 4 folders. I have more folders, but since I haven’t
downloaded anything new in those folders, I decided to leave em be for now.

As you can see in the screenshot, I managed to save up over 100 MB’s of
space. That’s huge. I was watching the compressing the whole time and I
saw some files that were 4 MB’s large. WHAT THE HELL? Then they got
compressed to 1 MB. A 75% difference in size. I dunno about you, but 1 MB
is much better than 4.

The good thing about the Compressorizer is that any .package files can be
compressed. Your neighborhood files can be compressed if you wanted to (and may even help load your game a little faster). It’s safe to use on those
files btw. So go on and compress your files! Reclaim your disk space!

I didn’t play much tonight.  I just had an idea to build a house.  So I did.  This is Rinoa and Zelda Rose’s abode.

I kept it simple; it’s one MASSIVE bedroom, one bathroom (not shown because…well, it is a bathroom), a den/study/hobby type room, kitchen and living room.  There’s also a pond because Rinoa enjoys to fish, and there’s a garden because both of them are gonna grow fresh produce.  And yes, the greenhouse is indeed attached to the house.  

It seems like it’s small.  But the lot is large enough that I can expand backwards if need be.

No Snothra babies yet.  Snow likes Mithra.  Mithra hates him.  So it’s probably not meant to be.  But there’s still hope for them…as long as Mithra doesn’t scratch Snow to pieces.

So for all intents and purposes, this woman is known as Jane Somethingortheother.  Look familiar? No? Well, I wouldn’t think so, but remember a long, long, long time ago? Well, I grew her up.  I got rid of that awful hair and replaced it with this.  She looks less plain Jane and more Kain material.  She grew into the nose of hers, so that’s always a good thing.

Like I said a few posts ago, Mom and Dad LaRose are getting old.  So it was time to send the twins to college.  As you can see, Rydia and Kain weren’t alone.  Time to move Rydia and Jobo’s relationship (which is nil atm) forward.  As for Kain…I have something in store for him too.

I really wish I could even install the base game of Sims 3 on this laptop even if it’s just to make Sims for future follower gifts. :(  Not sure how many would use a Sims 2 gift.

I’m just gonna blame it on their old age.  They are just 2 days away from Elder after all!

With them being this old now, time to move the twins to college and the triplets to teenagers.  Kinda don’t want both of them croaking before Rydia comes back home.  That would suck.

Hey so I'm having a problem with installing sims 3 package files. When I go to my launcher and go to downloads I select all and click install. The little window pops up and it's black for a while until the loading bar starts. It basically freezes and then the message: Sims 3 has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly... and so on. Then the only option is to click close program. It goes back to the launcher and nothing is installed.

Hm, I have a really bad memory when it comes to certain things.  I’ll try to answer this.  

One of two things could be happening.  The package file could be corrupt, which can happen, or you’re trying to install something that’s not a sims3pack.  Since you press “select all”, it’s harder to troubleshoot.  What I would suggest is that you install them individually to try and pinpoint the bad one.   Once you are able to find the bad one, you can delete it and try redownloading it and reinstall.  If that doesn’t work, then unfortunately there’s nothing you can do.

If what you are trying to install is not a sims3pack, then you’re outta luck there; .packages go into your Mods folder, whereas sims3packs are done via launcher.  If you attempt to install something like a sims2pack (can happen), then you may end up crashing the installer.

So I’d try checking them individually first.  If you have a lot of CC this may take a bit, but it’ll at least help in finding the problem CC.

I think I’m cursed. Every time I have sim with blond hair their kids/98% of the kids end up being blond. Every. Friggin’. Time.

I know that feeling.  There’s a mod for mixing up the hair colors, but the name of it escapes me atm. :(

I kinda got sick of getting myself confused by the triplets.  So I made one of the darker girls over.  This (if my memory serves me correctly; I did take this picture last night, but I have horrible short term memory) is Yuna.  And to ensure that I will never get them mixed up again (lol, short term memory loss), I gave her a pair of glasses.

Kain is a Popularity/Knowledge(? I think, I can’t remember) and Rydia is a Knowledge/Fortune Sim.

I will probably send them off to college once Rinoa hits Junior or Senior year in college.  By then, the triplets should be teens themselves.  I have a fun little story for those three…

BTW, Rydia will be the one to come back to the LaRose home once she graduates college.

So I take it back, Yuna and Aerith really do look scarily alike.  I can’t tell them apart with the same clothes and hair.  So we gotta fix that.  Prishe is lighter, so she’s easy.  These two?  I’d be rather fucked if they were born with the same eye color.  Just saying.

I thought I’d take a break from the LaRoses for a bit because these redheads will have a link to the next part of the LaRose story…type thing.  

Meet the Boulders.  They moved here for a new beginning.  Japas packed up Tilly (child) and Jobo (teenager) after their mother split for no apparent reason.  Jobo doesn’t care much about moving, but since there was nothing he can do to stop it, he adapted.  They moved into an apartment down the street from the LaRoses.  I’m HOPING that one of the LaRose twins brings Jobo home from school.  As for Japas and Tilly, not sure what to do with those two.  We’ll see.

 I didn’t want to do much with this family because I knew I wanted to use them for something with the twins, but they weren’t teens yet.  Now they are teens, so I can play this family freely without having Jobo out-age the twins.

So who’s this girl?  This is Rinoa’s dormmate, Zelda Rose Van Guarde. I was gonna start on her story, but never felt a want to.  Basically though, she is an only child, who was raised by her father.  They came from nothing, pretty much, and Zelda insisted that she went to college to bring them out of their slump.  She is a fortune aspiration Sim; same as Rinoa.  She is a bio major.

So getting a little jaded with the LaRoses as is.  Time to shake things up a smidge.  And by shaking things up, I mean sending Rinoa off to college.  I didn’t send her alone though—oh no.  I had a teenage sim who I didn’t play much at all, and decided to make her Rinoa’s dormmate.  I’ll get more pictures the next time I play.  Rinoa isn’t the most interesting creature (other than the pointy ears), so let’s see what I can do.

The triplets grew up!  The top one is the diva of the three, Prishe.  She actually has zero relationship with the other two.

Whereas Aerith and Yuna seem to actually not look like each other.  Although, it’s hard to tell from this angle.  But I purposely gave the two of em the same outfit, so we’ll see.  I really can’t tell you who’s who right now though.  Too tired to think about it either.

And now that there are no more toddlers in the family, and since Rune and Desti are way too old to be popping more out, it’s time to decide on which of these lovely ladies (or gentleman—poor Kain, lol) will be the focus on bringing in the next gen.

Just a small update to my little power cord problem…

Was expecting to get it this week because a friend of mine said she’ll get it for me.  However, due to illness in her family, she hasn’t been able to sit down and order it.  So it may be another week or so. :(  

But at least it’s not much longer.
